Association Praises Rep. Issa for Subpoenaing HHS to Get Secret Obamacare
Documents
Demands Disclosure
of Program Hiding Obamacare Effects
Atlanta, GA
– The American Seniors Association, the nation’s fastest growing senior
advocacy organization, today praised U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Ca., for
subpoenaing documents about an $8 billion program that pays bonuses to Medicare
Advantage plans.
"Obamacare was passed behind too many closed doors, with too
many manipulations and too little honesty with the American people,” says
American Seniors Association CEO Phil Kent. "Now President Obama’s Department
of Health and Human Services (HHS) is trying to hide some sort of bonus scheme
as a way to conceal the first round of Medicare Advantage cuts tied to the
Obamacare law.”
"This is a terrible abuse of executive power,’ Kent says,
"so it is gratifying that the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform
Committee is doing his duty to get to the bottom of it. HHS had a chance to respond
to the Issa document request without a subpoena, but instead chose to hide what
the administration is trying to do-- particularly from America’s seniors before
the presidential election.
"The full scope of this latest Obamacare deception must
come to light,” Kent added.
American Seniors Association has been opposed to
Obamacare from its inception and has especially criticized AARP for its false,
misleading and reckless behavior in claiming to represent and protect the
interest of the nation’s seniors.
