American Seniors Association CEO Phil Kent to Speak at June 8 Anti-Obamacare Rally in Atlanta
ATLANTA— “I’m looking forward to speaking at the June 8 ‘Hands Off My Health Care’ Rally hosted by Americans for Prosperity on the eve of the federal 11th Circuit Court of Appeals hearing that will decide on the constitutionality of the Obamacare law,” says Phil Kent, CEO of the Atlanta-based American Seniors Association (ASA), representing millions of members nationwide.
“In January, Federal Judge Roger Vinson ruled unconstitutional the new healthcare law signed by President Barack Obama that forces an individual insurance mandate on all Americans. It is gratifying that Georgia and 25 other states filed suit seeking to overturn this tyrannical and expensive mandate. ASA hopes the 11th Circuit judicial panel will affirm the Vinson ruling in its totality,” Kent says.
“After the Democratic-led Congress passed Obamacare over a year ago, the American Seniors Association, along with many constitutional scholars, elected officials, and various Constitutional organizations stated their belief that the law be declared unconstitutional,” Kent added.
“Obamacare means a vast expansion of state Medicaid programs that translate into worsening markets for the privately insured and also billions of dollars in Medicare cuts to pay for universal coverage. The law’s attack on Medicare Advantage will put millions of seniors’ benefits at risk; a risk that seniors shouldn’t have to take” Kent notes.
While speaking at the rally, Kent will call the AARP’s “unwavering support of Obamacare a continuing disgrace,” and will condemn the AARP’s “betrayal of its membership” through its support of higher insurance premiums, expanded government control, more taxes and the major cuts to Medicare. The public rally will be held at the U.S. 11th Circuit Court Building in Atlanta at 56 Forsyth Street this Wednesday from 9:00-11:00 a.m.
