Kent Named New American Seniors Association CEO
ATLANTA, GA—The Board of Directors of the American Seniors Association, a national organization representing millions of members that bills itself as “the conservative alternative to the AARP,” announced today that it has named Phil Kent as its new chief executive officer. An Atlanta-based media consultant, author, former newspaper editor and past president of the Southeastern Legal Foundation, Mr. Kent replaces Stuart Barton.
“I am gratified that the Board chose me as the voice and face of this growing organization. We are taking ASA to a new level by redoubling its fight against costly socialized medicine and Americans’ growing loss of freedom regarding healthcare choices, especially on the part of hard-pressed senior citizens,” Kent said. “ASA will continue to provide and expand a wide and rich array of benefits. We intend to step up our educational efforts to inform Americans how the left-wing AARP sold out seniors and has simply become a puppet of the Obama Administration.”
Among Mr. Kent’s first actions taken as ASA’s new CEO will be to travel to Washington, D.C. this week. “While in Washington, I will be meeting with conservative leaders to assist in the fight against Obamacare and lend ASA support for legislation mandating the verification of legal residency before any healthcare benefits are granted.”
