AMERICAN SENIORS ASSOCIATION PARTNERS WITH THE UNITED STATES MEDICAL ASSOCIATION

December 2, 2010

Atlanta—Continuing its dedication to advocating for the health and wealth of seniors, the American Seniors Association (ASA) recently announced its partnership with the United States Medical Association (USMA). ASA finds USMA’s mission statement, to promote and protect the doctor-patient relationship, to be a necessary element in healthcare—an element that is quickly vanishing under America’s current leadership. Together, the groups can balance the table against those other liberal organizations that profess to speak for all seniors and doctors, while representing those individuals who support the Constitution and a fiscally-responsible limited government.

Founded in response to the current healthcare dilemma, the USMA strives to strengthen the bond between physicians and patients by advocating for less government and insurance interference in patient care.  The USMA has grown steadily throughout 2010 by aggressively promoting healthcare reform, while seeking to improve the doctor-patient relationship.  Unlike the American Medical Association (AMA), membership in the USMA is open to both patients and physicians.

“The USMA is proud to unite with the ASA to expand its promotion for limited government and insurance interference in the doctor-patient relationship.  The USMA and the ASA both see the need for a rational, well-reasoned approach to healthcare reform,” said USMA Founder Dr. Joe Whitaker.  “This partnership is an important step for the USMA because it allows us to increase our efforts and membership so that we can expand our impact in the national healthcare arena.”  Through the partnership, the USMA will utilize its physician, patient, and political connections to advocate on behalf of USMA and ASA constituents. ASA President Stuart Barton sees this partnership as one step forward in securing a better future for heathcare in America, and is excited to see this partnership flourish.
