ASA President Stuart Barton to Speak at National Healthcare Reform Conference

September 16, 2010 -- Stuart Barton, president of the American Seniors Association, will be speaking at the first National Healthcare Reform Conference held in Los Angeles September 20- 22nd. Mr. Barton is just one of the attendees chosen to speak at the conference, with the majority of attendees and speakers being healthcare leaders. Mr. Barton has the pleasure of speaking alongside leaders from companies and organizations like the American Medical Association, American Cancer Society, Dave Ramsey's Financial Wellness, the Heritage Foundation, Gallup, Inc., and Johnson & Johnson.

The conference is an opportunity for leaders across America and select countries around the world to join together and discuss the successes, faults, and opportunities within healthcare. The conference comes at a critical time in American history, a time when America is being forced to adopt new, and mostly radical, health care laws and regulations. The healthcare reform has the potential to significantly affect Americans of all ages, newborns to seniors, which is why Mr. Barton jumped at the opportunity to speak at the Los Angeles conference. President Barton, as well as many of the other conservative speakers, is hoping to educate the attendees at the conference on the drastic, and often negative consequences, the new health care measures set in place under the Obama administration will have on Americans, especially seniors. Action to counter the reform is indeed the result Mr. Barton wants from the conference.

Here is a brief comment made by President Barton concerning the upcoming conference. "The 2010 National Health Care Reform Conference is just a step among many that government officials, industry leaders, experts, senior executives and others should take in educating Americans on the radical transformations that will soon take place within the realm of health care. My concern is the adverse effects the Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act has on seniors, and why it is important to voice their concerns for the future of America. From the 21.3% Medicare payment cuts, especially those phased-in to eliminate Medicare Advantage, a highly-praised alternative to traditional Medicare, to doctors turning Medicare patients down because of inadequate pay, it is evident that seniors have a reason to be concerned. Seniors among many have reached out to government officials emphasizing what it is they want and do not want, yet they continue to be ignored among these officials and policymakers in Washington. This simply must change if health care is ever going to bring better quality of life for all."
