AMERICAN SENIORS ASSN. HITS SECRET MEETINGS
ATLANTA— “It is a national disgrace that Democrat leaders of the U.S. House and Senate are refusing the offer of the C-SPAN TV network and other journalists to cover and air the final and so-far secret negotiations on the two controversial legislative versions of Obamacare,” says Stuart Barton, president of the American Seniors Association (ASA) representing hundreds of thousands of members nationwide. “The bypassing of the formal conference-committee approach, which would have reconciled the two bills and then submitted the final version to the two chambers for passage, would have been the best approach to foster a more open and accountable process.”
“Furthermore, the left-wing AARP agrees that senior citizens – indeed, all taxpayers— should be kept in the dark about this expensive legislation which, besides undercutting the current doctor-patient relationship, cuts $500 billion out of Medicare over the next 10 years. The AARP just wants to have a monopoly to sell insurance and reap profits under Obamacare,” Barton says.
“The AARP continues to lose thousands and thousands of members because of its support of budget-busting Obamacare, accompanied by permissive provisions that could allow illegal aliens to get healthcare benefits as well as some taxpayer-funding of abortions. This is why ASA is getting even more torn-up AARP cards in our mail and why our alternative group’s membership is rapidly growing every day,” Barton notes.
